Combined Cycle Unit Superheater and Reheater Tube Module Replacement
BEIS were engaged as the client representative for the pressure parts engineering and quality assurance surveillance of a large heat recovery steam generator superheater and reheater tube module retrofit, fabricated from Grade 91 material.
The retrofit installation required complex removal and reinstallation of major boiler components including high temperature steam headers and tie-ins to high energy piping. BEIS were able to provide site-based technical engineering expertise to deliver:
- Detailed engineering methodologies
- High energy piping stress and hanger evaluations
- High pressure piping designs
- Around-the-clock welding quality surveillance coverage
- Project management assistance; and
- Commissioning support
As a result, all tie-ins were accurate and positioned such that the welding and critical heat treatments could be implemented in a way that provided the best possible outcome for design compliance, quality and future plant fitness-for-service., giving the Client a high degree of confidence in their high energy piping integrity and plant reliability.
